Advocates question Pfizer's "only" wording for Vyndamax

Patient advocates and commentators have questioned how Pfizer describes Vyndamax now that rival ATTR-CM treatments are on the market.

Pfizer has described Vyndamax as the only once-daily single capsule approved for ATTR-CM shown to reduce death and cardiovascular hospitalization, including in its April settlement announcement. Critics argue the wording may lead patients to believe they have fewer options than they do. Science Times reported that advocates have challenged the claim, in an article on a separate FDA letter to Pfizer over promotion of a cancer drug.

An opinion piece in International Business Times made a similar argument, saying accurate marketing can still mislead if limitations are harder to find than benefits.

The FDA has acted on comparable claims in other markets. In February it objected to a television ad describing a weight-loss pill as the "first and only" product of its type, Covington noted in a review of enforcement letters.

BridgeBio's Attruby, an oral stabilizer taken twice daily, was approved in 2024. No FDA action over Vyndamax's promotional wording has been reported.
