Organon disclosed interim Phase 3 results through six years of Miudella use ahead of the Society of Family Planning meeting. The copper intrauterine device is being studied in an ongoing, single-arm programme run by Sebela Women’s Health.
The company reported a cumulative six-year Pearl Index of 0.93 and a Kaplan–Meier pregnancy estimate of 3.9%. These are different statistical measures: the latter should not be interpreted as an annual pregnancy rate. Six-year outcomes were available for only a subset of the original study populations.
No new safety signals were identified during the additional three years of use, although reported adverse events included heavy menstrual bleeding, menstrual pain and pelvic discomfort. Follow-up continues.
Organon holds exclusive global rights to Miudella. A supplemental application seeking use for up to six years is already under FDA review, with action expected in the second quarter of 2027. Longer authorised duration could strengthen the product’s appeal, but the new data do not themselves extend its approved label or establish comparative superiority.
