Ipsen reported third-quarter sales of €1.174 billion, up 28.3% as reported and 26.7% at constant exchange rates. Nine-month sales reached €3.364 billion, with growth across its principal therapeutic businesses.
Rare-disease revenue nearly doubled over the nine-month period on a reported basis, reaching €498.2 million. Oncology remained the largest contributor at €2.197 billion, while neuroscience sales totalled €669.1 million.
Management increased its full-year expectations to sales growth of around 23% at constant exchange rates and a core operating margin of around 39%. The previous guidance called for growth above 20% and a margin above 37%.
The combination of higher revenue and a stronger margin target makes the update more substantial than a sales beat alone. Investors should still distinguish reported growth from currency-adjusted performance and core profitability from statutory earnings. The next question is how much of the current momentum can be sustained while Ipsen continues to fund its late-stage development programmes and future launches.
